please_don't - wandering_around

please_don’t, c’est rien d’autre qu’un gars bizarre de plus qui, après 10 ans à jouer de la musique avec d’autres (Wild Wild Waves, Raoul Vignal, Rouuge, VicDub Experience etc) se met un jour à écrire des chansons et décide de les enregistrer avec ses synthés et sa batterie.
Et puis il se trouve qu’il a quelques phrases et mélodies qui lui trottent dans la tête : des chansons qui parlent de ce qu’il vit, ce qu’il observe, chez lui et chez les autres. Ça donne une sorte de chill pop, pleine d’envolées harmoniques, de mélodies entêtantes et de lignes de basse un peu bizarre mais quand même efficaces.
Ça parle de marcher dans la nature ou dans la ville, des années qui passent, de Lisbeth (son chat) et aussi de ce qui se passe dans sa tête et c’est pas toujours facile à expliquer.

please_don’t, c’est donc avant tout ce gars, qui a beaucoup écouté Timber Timbre, Mac Demarco, Grizzly Bear et Lowly, qui prend du plaisir à créer tout ça et qui décide de l’enregistrer un peu mieux qu’avec ses 2 micros. Histoire de pouvoir le partager avec d’autres. Alors il va voir son copain Théo au Sample and Hold Recording Studio à Lyon et ils enregistrent ça tout bien tout sale comme ils aiment.
Puis l’été suivant il va randonner en Bretagne et un beau jour un autre copain le rejoint sur la plage et prend des photos avec son argrentique. Les photos sont jolies donc il décide d’en faire la pochette de son album.
Et puis un autre jour le gars bizarre prend des vidéos de Lisbeth, il appelle l’autre copain qui, ni une ni deux, en fait un clip pour le morceau qui parle de son chat. Pas bête.

Finalement, 2 ans après avoir écris les premières chansons, l’album est prêt, tout beau tout fini. Il s’appelle wandering_around.

Et le gars bizarre c’est moi et je me retrouve à écrire ça, pour essayer d’expliquer à qui voudra bien le lire ce que j’ai voulu faire avec ces chansons. Mais ce que j’aimerais maintenant, c’est juste que celles et ceux que ça intéresse trouvent ces chansons, les écoutent et prennent du plaisir à faire ça comme j’ai pris du plaisir à les enregistrer.


Parce que moi, le gars bizarre, pour tout vous dire, j’ai surtout envie de retourner jardiner ou enregistrer d’autres chansons…

please_don’t is nothing more than just another weird guy who, after 10 years of playing music with other bands (Wild Wild Waves, Raoul Vignal, Rouuge, VicDub Experience etc) started writing his own songs and decided to record them with his synthesizers and his drums.
That weird guy had sentences and melodies floating about in his head: songs talking about the things he goes through, the things he observes, in him and in others. The songs craft some kind of chill pop, tinged with harmonic flourishes, heady melodies and uncanny yet catchy bass patterns.
There are songs about walking in nature or in the city, about the years going by, about Lisbeth (his cat) and also about what’s happening in the weird guy’s head - but that’s not always easy to explain.

Please_don’t is this guy who’s been listening a lot to Timber Timbre, Mac Demarco, Grizzly Bear and Lowly, this guy who found pleasure in creating all this and decided to record it a bit better than with his two mics. To be able to share it with others. So he went to see his friend Théo at the Sample and Hold Recording studio in Lyon, and they recorded it - dirty and tasty, just as they like it.
The following summer, that guy went hiking in Brittany and a friend of his joined him on the beach and took some pics with his analog camera. The pics were nice so he decided they would be the cover pictures of the album.
Then, on that other day, the weird guy took videos of his cat Lisbeth and he called that other friend of his who made a music video out of it, for the song about his cat. Pretty handy.

Finally, 2 years after writing the first songs, the album is good and ready. It’s called wandering_around.

That weirdo is no one else but me, and I’m writing this text to explain what I wanted for my songs to whoever feels like reading it. And now I feel a little silly because these songs, I don’t necessarily want to try and sell them, and I don’t want to try and convince others to listen to them. But what I’d really like now, is that those who are interested in this music easily manage to find it, to listen to it and to have just as much pleasure as I had while recording it.


And to be honest, that weird guy - or should I say “I” – is eager to go back to his gardening or record other songs…
